With a BA in Economics from Brooklyn College, he continued his professional development with courses in management from Harvard Business School and Fairfield University. A member of CTAM, NAMIC, and RMCA, has published articles, and has spoken at various industry conferences. He also served as Chairman of the Board for the Denver Film Society and is Co-President of C.I.N.E.M.A.
SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Led Successful Product Re-launch. Starz sought higher profile in the marketplace. Aggressively re-branded 13 channels, on- and off-air elements and subsequent websites. Directed positioning, design and packaging of Movieplex and its two sister channels. The latter two channels initially generated over $9M in annual licensing fees.
Devised Effective Service Tiering Plan. Starz faced inevitable tiering of its on demand services. Proactively created strategic plan to strengthen packages, enabling retention of licensing fees. Saved hundreds of millions annually and added millions of additional subscribers.
Developed Profitable Website. Nick wished to increase awareness of Nick Jr. and its relevancy among pre-school parents. Led site planning, positioning, and messaging, creating successful core design that is still in use. Increased brand awareness and usage, delivering over $2M in annual advertising and affiliate website sales revenue.
Created and Launched Lucrative New Product. Recognized chance to leverage a key audience with a new channel. Developed and launched The History Channel, aggressively driving brand. Built audience and propelled subscriber base to 30 million households in first year. Helped drive $30M+ annual licensing revenue.
Executive in Charge of Production. Starz wanted to begin its foray into originals. My team oversaw the production of B Side, Dead Prez: It's Bigger Than Hip Hop, Looking for Starz, Stand Up or Shut Up, How in the Hell Did I Get Here?, The ‘Wood, Special Sauce, and Jacked: Ludacris. Plus executive produced the 2015, 2016, and 2017 Colorado Art Tanks.
Boosted Afternoon and Evening Ratings. A&E promoted only its nighttime programming block. Assessed revenue opportunities, devising promotion for morning and afternoon programming. Boosted daytime ratings by 25% and nighttime ratings by 10%, garnering $8M in incremental advertising revenue.
Interactive Television. Executive produced the online portion of one of the first TV/Online synchronized television programs. Hired the talent, Mr. T, hired and managed the technology partner, interfaced with on air, oversaw PR, and devised the ad sales strategy. Usage of the online component led to TVLand.com tripling its monthly numbers.
